How to determine dependent datasets on a datasource

Hello All,

I am in the power BI Service. I click on settings and then click on manage connections and Gateways. I am presented with a huge list of data sources. Many of the data sources point to the same place, but have different case sensative names. How can I determine the list of reports that are dependent on each datasource? is there a way to force the Power BI desktop developer to use only the data sources that I set up rather than allowing them to create new ones?

Thanks!

Hi @asbpowerbi ,

Did  you end up finding a solution for this? I have the same issue currently trying to manage the tenant.

Hi @asbpowerbi ,

From the dataset, you can click ..., then View Lineage to see what reports use that dataset.

The second question is more complicated. You could look at using promoted or certified datasets and asking the developers to use those. Not sure if there is a way to force them though.
