Hello,
I have a BI report which uses an offline excel file.
I have uploaded that offline file as a dataset on BI service portal.
I then upload my report on the BI service portal and see that the backend still points to the offline excel file.
How can i replace that source from the excel file to the uploaded dataset?
Thanks!
Hi, @qwerty123
I think that when you publish a .pbix file with Excel as a data source to the PBI service, a dataset with Excel files as the data source will be generated instead of an Excel file as the source report, and the dataset will still exist as a middle tier on the "View lineage" page:
If you want to connect your report directly to the published dataset to use the live connection mode to connect to the data source for report development, you can also connect to the published dataset in PBI desktop and recreate and publish the report:
Connect to datasets in the Power BI service from Power BI Desktop - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
Thank you for your time and sharing, and thank you for your support and understanding of PowerBI!
