How to build a Power bi network

Hi,

We have tree teams:

Group A: people who updates the excel files

Group B: people who develop with Power bi desktop

Group C: people who access the reports with Power bi service and must ne able ti update them

Unfortunately at the moment se are stuck with excel to feed Power bi, so i was thinking about using One drive for business.

Is It doable? What licence do I need and how many?

Thanks in advance,

Claudio

Hi @Nummepija,

Of course, you can get your excel files from One Drive for Business, for more details, please check the online document What’s more, for the members of Group B and C, Pro License is needed. As Pro user is centered around sharing and collaboration. If your content is assigned to Premium capacity, then there is no limitation in situation, free users can consume all the contents as well. For the ones in Group A, pro license is not required here. Also you can check more details from the link.

What’s more, if the developer(Group B) published the report the service, then they can set a scheduled refresh  without a gateway and the members in the Group C could see the latest content if report has been shared to them. If you upload the pbix to one drive and get the pbix from one drive in service, then here we can use One drive refresh for the dataset, however, the underlying data will not be refreshed by this way.  Only new measures, visuals that you create in the pbix will be updated according here. If you want to reflect updated data of Excel in Power BI report, you can set schedule refresh for the dataset. For more details, please check the online document.

Regards,

Frank
