How to Retain Slicer Selections in Power BI Dashboard Upon Refresh?

Hi everyone!
I'm experiencing an issue with a real-time Power BI dashboard used in our warehouse. The dashboard requires refreshing to see immediate updated statuses for selected slicer values. However, upon refreshing, it reverts to some default slicer selections instead of retaining the the slicer value I selected. This happens in both the web version as well as the mobile app version. In the web version, if I refresh the whole page, the slicer selection goes, but if I refresh using the 'refresh visual' button within the dashboard page, then the slicer selection is retained. On the mobile version, the slicer selection goes to some default regardless of how I try to refresh.

This is creating a huge difficulty in having to type and select the slicer again and again for the use. I can't set up a slicer selection as the bookmark also because each slicer value will be in use for a maximum of 2 or 3 days. Does anyone know how to make Power BI retain slicer selections after a refresh?

The most popular solution I got while googling was to bookmark the required slicer selection. But, I can't use the bookmark feature because of the specific use case of this dashboard. The dashboard is particularly utilized to see the status of unloading the contents of an inbound shipment truck. The only slicer used in the dashboard is the one for selecting the container number. Once a slicer is selected, the dashboard shows the live status of the different items being unloaded from that truck.

Because of this, any value in the slicer selection (container number) is only used for maximum of one or two days (from the time the truck is scheduled to come the warehouse till the moment the truck actually leaves the warehouse) and can't be bookmarked.

The dashboard is used to verify the actual amount of items being unloaded with the expected quantity and shows the progress as well. So, the page has to be refreshed often to show the correct status of unloading while retaining the selected container number as the slicer value.

Hi,@Rohithac

1.According to your needs, I have made the following attempts:

Here's my report before I created the dashboard:

I modified the slicer on the dashboard:

The refresh results are the same as yours:

This is mainly because in service the dashboard doesn't hold slicers and filters based on the same.
2.Here's an alternative I can offer that differs from yours:

In edit mode, the report is modified and republished as a dashboard.

Use reports directly as presentation objects.

Reporting is possible to realize that slicer and filter settings are permanently retained according to the user even in the watch view.

Here is the relevant documentation:
Format filters in Power BI reports - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

If you feel that performance needs to be improved, you can also submit an idea on Home (microsoft.com) and wait for users with the same needs as you to vote for you and help you realize the idea as soon as possible.

Go under File->Options and Settings -> Options -> Current File -> Report Setting -> Persistent Filters, and make sure its not enabled

Doing this Power Service will retain user selections as cache and would be retained untill cleared by user
