Help with alerts in Power Bi Service
Hello,
I have multiple workspaces, each workspace for one client where I published an app. In administration portal I disabled the alerts and the option to sugest contacts (other organizational emails). However, when I logged with the an user email (not the admin), it is possible to set alerts in the organizational app and in the reports, and when I set an alert in the app, they can see email sugestion.
How can I disable the alerts and the the email sugestion?
Thanks

Alerts can't be disabled in the service , this is a known limitation. Microsoft doesn't provide an admin setting to block data alerts.

Hi Jmrc16
You can try the following:
Disabling Alerts for Non-Admins: The key setting is in the Power BI Admin Portal, under Tenant Settings. There’s a specific option called Data alerts that controls whether users can create alerts on dashboards or reports. To fully disable alerts for all users except admins:
- Go to Admin Portal > Tenant Settings > Data Alerts
- Turn off data alerts for all user groups except the admins
This ensures that only admin users can create or manage alerts. If users still see alerts enabled double-check that no workspace or app permission overrides are allowing it.
Stopping Email Suggestions: The email suggestions you see when creating alerts or sharing content come from the organizational directory and Microsoft's suggestions in Office 365/Azure Active Directory. As far as i'm aware not really sure Power BI itself doesn’t provide a direct way to disable those suggestions.
To reduce or control these suggestions, you can:
- Review and adjust privacy settings in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center or Azure Active Directory under security and privacy settings
- Limit suggested contacts across the organization from those platforms
If this is a critical need, will recommend submitting feedback to Microsoft via the Power BI Community feedback channels for consideration in future updates.

Hi Jmrc16,
As Kedar_Pande said, this is not possible right now.
I recommend you submit an idea for it: https://community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Fabric-Ideas/idb-p/fbc_ideas

Hi Jmrc16 ,
Thanks for raising this, I verified the behavior and updated links so you can follow the official guidance directly. The main tenant level controls for Fabric and Power BI are documented on the tenant settings overview and the tenant settings index which describe what tenant settings can and cannot block for users, including the limited scope of data alerts at the tenant level.
About tenant settings - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn
For details on how alerts behave for end users and how to manage alerts in the Power BI service see the Set data alerts in the Power BI service article.

The email suggestions you see are produced by Microsoft 365 and Azure Active Directory directory and privacy features rather than by Power BI itself, so review the Microsoft 365 privacy controls documentation and the External collaboration settings for Microsoft Entra documentation to understand how directory visibility and suggestion behavior can be limited.

If you want to request a product change to allow full suppression of alerts or email suggestions, the Fabric Ideas forum is the place to submit and vote on that feedback.

If you would like, I can craft a short forum post using these links that explains the current limitation and recommended mitigation steps for administrators.
Thank you.
