Failed to update data source credentials Azure MySQL Database (Service)

Hi,
I am trying to fetch the data from MySQL database, It's giving an error: "Failed to update data source credentials: MySQL: Authentication to host 'db-joget-xxxxxx-westus2-001.mysql.database.azure.com' for user 'pbiuser' using method 'mysql_native_password' failed with message: Connections using insecure transport are prohibited while --require_secure_transport=ON"

But, With the same credentials, I can connect the database in Power BI Desktop. Anyone knowns please help.

Hi,

I'm having the same issue as well.

Using Azure MySQL, can refresh on desktop but once published, both [Data source credentials] and [Scheduled refresh] are greyed out.

below is the error 

Data source error:	Scheduled refresh is disabled because at least one data source is missing credentials. To start the refresh again, go to this dataset's settings page and enter credentials for all data sources. Then reactivate scheduled refresh.

It seems like we need to install and configure the data gateway in VM/Remote server/Local PC

Is there going to be any update that will allow power bi to connect Azure MySQL without gateway?
alot of people are using cloud database that does not have any physical server.
