Expansion of a hierarchy to all levels in a matrix

Buonasera, ho problemi ad espandere una gerarchia (righe) a tutti i livelli all'interno di una matrice. Ho cercato online e dice che dovrei andare su Formato e cercare l'opzione Espandi a tutti i livelli, ma non ho questa opzione. Come devo procedere?

Grazie in anticipo.

Hi @MirianaDF

If you are unable to find the "Expand to all levels" option in the Format pane of your matrix visual in Power BI, there are a few things to check. First, ensure that your matrix contains a hierarchy in the Rows section, meaning multiple fields that naturally roll up into each other (e.g., Category → Subcategory → Product). If the hierarchy is set up correctly, you should see small expand/collapse icons next to the row headers. If these are missing, check the Visualizations pane → Format (paint roller icon) → Row headers, and enable “+/- icons” to manually expand the levels. Additionally, go to the Data/Drill tab in the Power BI ribbon and check if the Expand all levels option is available there. If you still cannot expand, verify that your Power BI version is up to date, as older versions might not support this feature. Lastly, ensure that the dataset supports hierarchy expansion, as some direct query models or flat tables may not behave like traditional hierarchies.

Hi @MirianaDF ,

Thank you for reaching out to us on the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.

Instead of using the 'Format' pane, right-click on the Date table or Date column, and may able to see the 'Expand all' option.I tried creating locally.
Here’s a screenshot for better understanding:

As a workaround try this
go to the Matrix settings, Row Headers > Options, turn off Stepped Layout.
Then save your file with expanded layout and publish
