Hi,
I have copied a map with xml files from a server to my local machine.
The data is placed in on c:\data\organization\xml
Created PowerBi report and published it to the PBI Service.
Now I don't want to use the old server anymore and created a VM on Azure.
So copy the files to same map on VM c:\data\organization\xml
1. Do I still need a gateway since this VM is also on Azure?
2. If not. How to "tell" PBI service to find the files on VM c:\data\organization\xml and refresh them?
Thanks in advance!
Solved! Go to Solution.
You could still place the XML results onto the SharePoint. Power BI doesn't need to know that you have a Windows server doing the processing.
You will need some type of internet protocol to access your data. For example you could run a HTTPS server on your VM (which s would bring its own set of troubles as you potentially would need to manage dynamic DNS)
Why not just place the files onto a OneDrive/Sharepoint?
Hi thanks for your reply
Uhhhm SP or Onedrive? Then I need to configure that on the AzureVM?
Isn't a gateway easier then?
Don't know, just thinking
You would need neither the Azure VM nor a gateway. Just OneDrive (or Sharepoint - they are technically the same thing)
Ah Ok, I understand.
Forgot to tell that I need a windows server which runs a program.
That program will refresh the xml files periodically.
So thats why I choosed a Azure VM....
