Determine Datasets attributes

Hello everybody,

I am working on a data set/ data flow that contains all of our ERP data/ tables.

Now I would like to determine the attributes per table:

  • How many rows
  • How many columns
  • From-/ To-Date for the date columns
  • .....

Is there any way to determine that with Power BI tools?

Hi @joshua1990 ,

In Power BI Desktop, you could try to create a blank query like so:

let
  Source = #sections,
    Section1 = Source[Section1],
    #"Converted to Table" = Record.ToTable(Section1),
    #"Removed Bottom Rows" = Table.RemoveLastN(#"Converted to Table",1),
    #"Added Custom" = Table.AddColumn(#"Removed Bottom Rows", "ColumnCount", each Table.ColumnCount([Value])),
    #"Added Custom1" = Table.AddColumn(#"Added Custom", "RowCount", each Table.RowCount([Value])),
    #"Removed Columns" = Table.RemoveColumns(#"Added Custom1",{"Value"})
in
    #"Removed Columns"

Then, you will get this:

count.PNG

But it doesn't work in dataflow. And I am trying to find another workaround. If there is, I will reply here in time.

BTW, .pbix file attached.

Best Regards,

Icey
