Deployment pipe with no data

Hi all,

My power Bi dataset source is an excel file stored in Local.I published that report to dev.

My pipeline architecture is dev---->test----> prod.

When i am deploying from dev to test.Visuals are migrated but no data present in test workspace.Could you please suggest an alternate options except On premise gateway setup.

Hi @nagasaikumarb22 ,

Datasets and dataflows are Power BI items that store data and contain both data and metadata. During deployment, only the metadata is copied while the data isn't. As a result, after deployment the dataset or dataflow might not have any data and a report visual that's relying on this data, will appear broken. To solve this problem, refresh the dataflow and then refresh the dataset in the target stage.

If your datasource is an excel file stored in local, you must configure the Gateway.
