Hi,
I have a few Dataflows coming into a datamart and all of them have a Date column which I have made sure is formatted as a date in the dataflows themselves. In the Datamart, I am using an append query to combine all these flows together to create a single table with the Date column. Again, here too I confirm that the column is rightly a date type column. I have no relationships created on this column.
When i try create a heirarchy on this column (on the Datamart's Model tab), it DOES NOT breakdown by Date by Year, Quarter,Month,Day.
I had used the same original data in PowerBI desktop and there Date Heirarchy was created automatically.
But I did check, that if I try use my dataflows in PowerBI desktop, there is no heirarchy.
So I am not sure what am I doing wrong in the dataflows/datamart method. There doesn't seem to be any Time Intelligence settings in the fabric universe where I am making my dataflows and datamarts.
Appreciate some help!
Thanks!

Hi, @ParikG
Instead of relying on the automated date/time hierarchy, you could try creating a custom date table in your DataFlow or Datamart. This table should include all the necessary date attributes (such as Year, Quarter, Month, and Day) and any additional time-related attributes you need.

Thanks Ibendlin. The auto date time works like a charm in Desktop and I found it very intuitive as a new user. its really a shame that it doesn't in the Power BI service. But I will have to work around it.

General advice is to disable auto date time and its hierarchies, and employ your own calendar table. There isn't really a need for hierarchies as the visuals can do the drill up/down on the individual fields too.
