DatawareHouse vs Dataflows

Hello,

I planed to use Powerbi to generate automatic reports...

I already built some of them (Google Analytics, XLSX,...) one by one without automatic refresh... (on Powerbi desktop)

We want to do it in a more professional way including other data (CRM: Microsoft Dynamics and one "big" Postgresql database : 1,8 GB...)

There is a "classic way"

ETL --> DatawareHouse & datamarts SQL (with a new big Postgresql data base) --> Cubes Analysis Services <--- Powerbi

Questions

  • is there a simpler way to generate our automatic reporting with Dataflow?
  • can dataflow replace "ETL --> DatawareHouse & datamarts SQL --> Cubes Analysis Services" ?
  • What are the limits?

a response would be greatly appreciated

Have a nice day

Noliverte

Thank you Amine for your answer, the link which is very interesting.

If I sum up with my non-technical words

Dataflows offers an all-in-one solution that is an alternative to the classic "ETL --> DatawareHouse & datamarts SQL --> Cubes Analysis Services".
It is not necessarily easier to implement but the solution is robust and allows to manage the entire chain from the ETL to the publication of automated reports under Powerbi.
There are some limitations, but retrieving and storing data from a postgresql database or social media data or building a star model between several heterogeneous data sources is possible.

Do you agree ?

Bye
