Dataset in My Workspace not showing up in Report Builder

I have several datasets published in My Workspace but they don't seem to be showing up in Report Builder when selecting a dataset. I have a Pro license.

There is another post that has the same issue but there were no solutions found: https://community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Service/PowerBI-Paginated-Report-cannot-see-Dataset-in-MyW...

Any idea how to fix this?

Thanks! I agree, this seems like an oversight from the developers to put the My Workspace datasets under the Shared With Me list.

Yes. But best practice for developing a Paginated Report through a corporation level is to put DataFlow or Semantic model under a Premium workspace, then you can switch your Connection string or data source by creating rules in the Deployment pipeline. If no Premium workspace, then it's fine.

Hi, @olimilo

Based on your description, you can't see the dataset published in My Workspace in Power BI Report Builder. In fact, Power BI Report Builder is a paged report related application, regardless of whether you are connecting to My Workspace or another Workspace, you will only see paged reports. If I misunderstood what you meant, feel free to ask any questions about this.

How to get your questions answered quickly --  How to provide sample data in the Power BI Forum

The issue is: I cannot find the datasets/semantic models published in My Workspace to use with PBI Report Builder (desktop application).

If you look at my screenshot, there are 2 datasets published in My Workspace (left window). In the select PBI Dataset dialog box (right window), My Workspace is not listing any datasets. The question then is: where are the datasets I published in My Workspace and/or how can I use them with PBI Report Builder without publishing to a different workspace?

Hi @olimilo

Extracted the below solution from the post you have shared.

Here's a list of what you need and don't need to use a shared dataset in Power BI Report Builder.
