Dataset in DirectQuery mode

Hi All,

I made report which built purely by DirectQuery mode (SQL server source)  . As Gateway installation is pending, I could not publish that Desktop to Service yet .

But I make another small report which was by Import and I published the same in service , and saw that in "dataset" section I/whom I shared are able to see tables and can make a new reports using those model .

My qustion is , will I/shared user can do the same when I publish the report which is purely on Direct-Query mode ? Will we be able to see the dataset and tables which we made in Desktop in DirectQuery mode ??

any doc/link will be helpful  ..

Thanks

Sanjoy

Hi there,

You will be able to Share with users, as long as those users have permissions on the SQL Server Source (If you are using SSO (Single Sign On)) or the context that the account is running under.

If you edit the report in the Power BI Service, yes you will see the tables.

Our content is all based on DirectQuery connections to SSAS Cubes. Once publsihed as a dataset in the PBI service, yes, users can access that dataset to create their own content providing you have given them permission

Hi j0hnnyw1nter

Not able to get what you meant to say "Our content" ..

If you are saying source data , we are getting in SQL DB Direct Query .. not from any SSAS Cubes  .  So will that work ?
