Dataset error API only username

Hi, After I created a PowerBI report that uses an API to retrieve a dataset, I have trouble getting it to update on a schedule.

The API documentation on authentication states that it should be set to 'basic' with the username filled in with the token that is provided, and leave the password field blank. This works normal in PowerBI desktop, but after publishing it it will not update. It generates this error:

Last refresh failed: Wed Apr 21 2021 10:10:36 GMT+0200 (Central European Summer Time)
There was an error when processing the data in the dataset.Hide details

Processing error:The given credential contains a property with a null value. Data source kind: Web. Property name: Password.
Cluster URI:WABI-NORTH-EUROPE-E-PRIMARY-redirect.analysis.windows.net
Activity ID:44043b21-7410-4d1e-ab24-2d6dcbd9f2d3
Request ID:ae77ed9d-3491-47ca-91c5-0b0c98fc5295
Time:2021-04-21 08:10:36Z

When I fill in anything into the password field, it fails with the authentication error that username password are not correct.

Can this be helped?

Hi, @Anonymous

It may expects the user to specify a valid username and valid password to connect.

It is suggested to contact PowerBI support https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/support/pro/ to identify how to pass in a blank password .

You can also check whether this document could help.
