When a user takes over adataflow they are forced to configure credentials which makes perfect sense. As an authorized user for the preconfigured connection on gateway I should be able to select that connection which is not any different then selecting a new connection. Creating new connection works but I’m having hard time getting support team understand that there is no difference from creating new and choosing one where I’m an authorized user.
Using the same dataflow I’m unable to select the data source when going through “Configure connection” option.
Can't select connect even though I'm an authorized user on connection. Connection option is grayed out. Editing connection is not an option because outside of admins that setup connections on gateways users don't have access to credentials. The entire point for preconfigured data sources is so users don't have access to credentials but authorized to use data sources. They can still build new data source but not choose existing after take over.
The workaround is to go through Options
Project options
Select the gateway that contains the predefined data source (no credentials required) and magically the data source is working again for authorized users.
According to Microsoft support this is a "security" feature while obviously to anyone using this product this is a bug when it works from one menu but not from another. Just highlights an an inconsistent experience between two the two dialogs.
I had asked Microsoft support for proper procedures on how users should take over data flows that use data sources from data gateways. Would like to know so I can update the users in my company.

Not entirely correct. There is also a "Connection owner" role that has permissions to modify connection credentials.
