Dataflow connection to PostgreSQL database - Please install Npgsql version 4.0.10.0 or earlier

Hi ,

We have On-Premise PostgreSQL database and I am trying to connect to it through dataflow from PowerBI service. I see the following error.

An exception occurred: Please install Npgsql version 4.0.10.0 or earlier

Does anyone know what this error means?

I Already installed npgsql 4.0.10 on ec2 machine (tried with both options) and still got the same error trying to configure my gateway. 

In details it says:

name_of_gateway: Please install Npgsql version 4.0.10.0 or earlier.

Hi  @johnpjustus ,

Based on your description, it may be that the version you are currently using cannot match Power BI Service，please "The installed database provider 'Npgsql' targets an incompatible .NET Framework. Please install Npgsql version 4.0.10.0 or earlier" and make sure that you select NpgSQL GAC Installation.Then restart the pc.

Thanks Liu for the information. Do I  install Npgsql version 4.0.10.0 or earlier on the PostgreSQL database server?

But when connecting from PBI desktop to the PostgreSQL database there are no issues.

Please ignore, I figured it out. I installed on Npgsql provider on the gateway machine and then it worked.
