DataFlow failing to retrieve data from Service Now

Hi everyone,

I’ve been successfully retrieving data directly from our service for a long time. However, a few weeks ago, I had a meeting with our company’s Power BI administrator, who advised that moving all the data into a dataflow would be best to improve dashboard performance. She assured me that once the data was in the dataflow, I could retrieve it from there without affecting performance.

The issue now is that when I try to retrieve the data from the dataflow, the tables appear empty, making it impossible for me to proceed with my visualizations. Our administrator also found this unusual and mentioned that this shouldn't be happening. She escalated the issue to the Power BI team, but it’s been nearly two weeks without a resolution.

I urgently need to complete this task for our upcoming reporting week, so I’d really appreciate any insights or solutions from the community. Has anyone encountered a similar issue? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Check Dataflow Refresh Status: Ensure that the dataflow refresh is completing successfully. If the refresh fails, the tables might appear empty. You can check the refresh history in the Power BI service to see if there are any errors.

Dataflow Permissions: Verify that you have the necessary permissions to access the dataflow and its tables. Sometimes, permission issues can prevent you from seeing the data.

Dataflow Configuration: Double-check the configuration of the dataflow to ensure that the data is being loaded correctly. This includes verifying the data source connections and any transformations applied within the dataflow.

Dataflow Storage: Ensure that the dataflow is set to store data in the correct storage mode (e.g., Import or DirectQuery). If the storage mode is not set correctly, it might affect data visibility.

Power BI Desktop: Try accessing the dataflow from Power BI Desktop to see if the issue persists. Sometimes, the issue might be related to the Power BI service rather than the dataflow itself.
