Data Source Credentials - Disabled and no way to correct error

We have a data connector to our Jira account, and Jira made some changes which led to new credentials being generated. This did NOT play nice with the refresh settings in our workspace, and after some consecutive failures, the refresh was disabled.

The credentials have been updated, and I re-published my dataset/report with the corrected credentials, but the workspace will not let me update those credentials (grayed out), so I'm not certain how I'm supposed to make this work?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

HI, @ClayBrown

If the data source credentials option is grayed out even after republishing your dataset/report, it's likely that you don't have the necessary permissions to change the credentials for the data source in the Power BI service. Here are a few additional steps to try:

  1. Check Workspace Permissions: Make sure you have the right permissions in the workspace. You may need to be an admin, member, or owner, not just a viewer or contributor.

  2. Check Dataset Permissions: Confirm if you are the owner of the dataset. If not, you may not have permission to edit the data source credentials.

  3. Personal Workspace: If it's not a shared workspace and is your Personal Workspace, you should be able to edit the data source credentials.

  4. Check with Admin: If you're not able to edit the data source credentials despite being the owner of the dataset, contact your Power BI admin. It's possible that there are tenant-level settings or data source settings applied by your admin that restrict users from editing data source credentials.

  5. Republish: Try republishing the report from Power BI Desktop with the updated credentials. Make sure you choose "Replace" when given the option to "Replace dataset".
