[Data Refresh Error] - LargeModelMovedAcrossRegions

Hi team

I am facing a challeging issue here.

Out of nowhere, today, my datasets can not refresh. I have this error :

- Erreur de source de données: {"error":{"code":"LargeModelMovedAcrossRegions","pbi.error":{"code":"LargeModelMovedAcrossRegions","parameters":{"regionName":"France Central"},"details":[],"exceptionCulprit":1}}}
- URI du cluster: WABI-SOUTH-CENTRAL-US-C-PRIMARY-redirect.analysis.windows.net
- Heure: 2025-11-01 20:06:56Z

Surely, I did not move any of my data models during my sleep.

The crazy part is that another dataset that is hosted in the same workspace does not face this refresh issue.

The other 7 datasets have the same problem.

I also checkd other datasets in other workspace, and it works fine.

All of my datasets are within the same capacity, in France Central, for PowerBi Embedded usage.

Do you have any help ?

Hi @AnthonyLEVEILLE,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum. Also, thanks to @lbendlin, for his inputs on this thread. I understand how disruptive it is when several dataset refreshes suddenly fail without any changes from your side.

From the error details:

LargeModelMovedAcrossRegions
URI: WABI-SOUTH-CENTRAL-US-C-PRIMARY-redirect.analysis.windows.net

it appears that the affected datasets are large semantic models that are now being accessed through a different Azure region than the one where they were originally created.

Your models expect to be hosted in France Central, but the service is attempting to refresh them through South Central US. Because large models are “region-locked,” moving them (or the workspace/capacity) across regions is not currently supported, and that triggers this error.

Refer these links:

Hope this clears it up. Let us know if you have any doubts regarding this. We will be happy to help.

Thank you for using the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.
