Custom Connector in Power BI Service: SSO Support

Hello,

is it possible to use SSO with SAML, Kerberos or OAuth in a custom connector with Power BI Service?

What I want to achieve (if possible) is that the token of the user who access the report is available within the context of the custom connector. The on Prem Gateway is set up, and the database supports all those auth mechanismns. The custom connector supports Direct Query and is not registered.

I saw that some registered connectors offer SSO with SAML and Kerberos and

the documentation lists only a few datasources able to use SAML or Kerberos.

But maybe there is a possibility ...

Best regards

  • Hey zua,

To enable SSO with a custom connector in Power BI Service, the connector must be registered and certified by Microsoft. Without certification, SSO with OAuth, SAML, or Kerberos is not supported in the service—even if the backend and gateway are correctly configured.
