Copy a Report connected to Dataset and append the archive to the reports.

Hi, I am new to power BI and have this task to complete. Your guidance will be a great help for me.

Task: we are archiving all the last year reports into Archive workspace.

Now I was asked to copy the last year reports connected on a dataset append the "Archive" - to the reports. And after moving in Archived workspace I have to delete the report in original workspace.

Please show me a way out how to achieve this.

Thanks,

Akash

Hi @akash0800 ,

The best way to do this is the re-publish the reports (.pbix files) to the new workspace, then delete them from the old workspace.

Maybe it's just me, but this seems like an unusual scenario. Could you add a year filter to the reports and set it to the current year by default? That way there is no need to have an archive workspace.

If you go to Report settings, you can change the name of the report and add "Archive" to it.

Hi @akash0800 ,

Sorry, maybe I misunderstood what you are trying to do. Have you looked at "Save a copy" in the Power BI service for making a copy of the report? This won't change the dataset though.

I did this. But then they are asking me to append "Archive". Once moved then delete the report at source. This is what I could not get.

Hope you can suggest some way out.

Thanks,

Akash

We finally implemented this solution.

Hi djurecicK2,

Are you referring to Republishing the dataset and all the reports built on it.?

I am not completely sure of this. As one of the dataset has only 10 reports on it but the other one has 60 different reports on it. And we already started adding the current years reports on the same dataset.
