Card visual background effects

My card visual background effects switched to off when the report is publish to a workspace. I have check the settings and I can find anything that is preventing them from staying on. Any ideas of what is causing my issue?

Hey @Churchill ,

I would bet that something is going on with the version issue - especially since you can do it online.  I wouldn't suggest opening a Microsoft ticket yet because the first thing they will require you to do is to update your version of Power BI to the latest version.  I would put in a ticket to your IT and tell them that this is the suspected reason your report is not working right.

I very much doubt it is the data source - the visual formatting of colors and such should not be dependent on the data inside of the visual (as a normal rule).  So, I think it is the version.

After you get the version updated, then try again....

Hey @Churchill ,

I have not heard of this but I have a few thoughts to check on it.  First, is your desktop the latest and greatest version?  My thinking being that there is some sort of translation between versions (particularly since the card visual was updated a month or two ago).

Second, are you able to open the report in the visual and then create/modify the card there and get it the way you want?  My thinking being that maybe you have something in the browser changing things (assuming the PBI Desktop and Service versions are the same).

Let us know.

Thank you @collinq for the response. Unfortunately my version for desktop is December 2022. I am at the mercy of the IT department for updating. The other questions answer is yes I can go into the visualization menu and change the background to ON and the formula for coloring is still there and it works in the service BI. The only thing that I have change since I have noticed that it was not publishing right was my data sources. Recently we change from a server based share drive to sharepoint. I updated the paths for the data source to sharepoint and that's when I noticed that it changed (not sure if it is related).

I was finally able to get an upgraded version (September 2023) and now my  visuals are working properly.
