Can we use power bi data gateway to connect AWS fie share FSX ?

Hi Folks ,

We've a requirment to publish Power BI reports to AWS FSx .can someone please suggets how to publish the report output? Where exactly we need to configure.

Here my assumption we can configure using Power BI data gatway or using some code in power automate.

Please guide.

Power BI does not natively support publishing reports directly to AWS FSx.

1. Instead, Use the gateway for data connectivity but not for publishing reports directly to FSx.
2. Use Power Automate to export report data (e.g., via subscription or API) and save it to AWS FSx.

You'll need custom automation to transfer report outputs to FSx.

Publishing Power BI report outputs to AWS FSx requires exporting the report data and saving it to the FSx file system. Power BI does not natively support direct exports to FSx, but you can use the Power BI Export API to generate report outputs in formats like PDF or Excel. For CSV outputs, the Dataset API can run DAX queries to retrieve data. You can then use Power Automate to automate the export and save the file to FSx by mapping FSx as a network drive using the "File System" connector. Alternatively, Python or custom scripts can handle the export process and upload files to FSx via SMB. Ensure proper permissions for accessing Power BI APIs and FSx, and automate the flow based on your frequency requirements.

As @rohit1991 mentioned, In addition to that you may manually export reports from Power BI Service or Power BI Desktop to  like pbix or csv  and load them into AWS FSx.

Do you mean to say manually copy output file to amazon FSx ?

Thank you for the response.

Yes. To do manually, you may already have an FSx file system created in your AWS account and A computer or EC2 instance that can access the FSx file system.

To manually upload PBIX files, you may need to Mount the FSx file system to local computer or EC2 instance.
