Do I need to install the Power BI Report Server to be able to use the On Premises Data Gateway

Hi @kausdutt ,

From this Microsoft official document Comparing Power BI Report Server and the Power BI service , we know the license Power BI Premium or SQL Server EE with SA is needed when use Power BI Report Server, and the gateway is not required.

Even free user also can have the on-premises data by refershing the data with the gateway.

But Pro user, can able to get few additional features.
