Backend ErrorOther AS persistency error while deploying report to the web

Hello,

I have a PBIP that is pulling in data from snowflake, I have deployed this report to the web multiple times recently while I was deploying this to the web I got an error that said : "Backend ErrorOther AS persistency error" . From a bit of googling I was able to figure out that this was an issue with the Analytic Service running under the hood of PowerBI. This is why I tried deleting and redeploying the model. But this has not resolved the issue. It is to be noted that the report works fine in the desktop app its just the deployment that fails. Also to be noted is that I am using parameters to switch between test and prod databases in the report.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards

Hi, @arunmani

This error typically indicates an issue with the Analysis Services engine that Power BI uses for its data model.

Ensure that the parameters for switching between the test and production databases are configured correctly, and that both have the necessary permissions. Incorrect parameter configuration or insufficient permissions can cause deployment issues.
If your dataset is particularly large, consider whether you're experiencing any service limitations or if there's an opportunity to optimize your model. For large datasets, using a large dataset storage format can help avoid deployment errors. you can check the following link:

Large semantic models in Power BI Premium - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

Occasionally, the credentials used for data source connections can become invalid or expire, causing deployment issues. Refreshing these credentials in the Power BI service resolves this issue. For guidance on data source credentials, you can see:

Data refresh in Power BI - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

Review the deployment process, paying particular attention to any changes made to the report or data model before the issue started. Sometimes, specific changes can trigger deployment issues due to compatibility or service limitations.
