Automatic refresh

I have successfully installed gateway and configured it. also, i set weekly refresh shedule.

my query is that, do i need to keep open PBIX file as well as my PC ON during the shedule refresh time?

Hi @Meraj 

If the refresh needs on-premise data gateway, then when your computer is turned off, the gateway will go offline and the scheduled refresh will fail.

It's not a good choice to install the gateway on a computer, such as a laptop. It may be turned off, hibernated or not connected to the Internet, because the gateway will not work under any circumstances. It is suggested to install the gateway to the server or leave the device turned off.

No on the PBIX file. You published it, so it will refresh in the service. your PBIX file will no longer remain up to date. The service will update the model you published.

As for your computer, it depends. Does your data model require a gateway and if so, did you install it on your PC? Yes to both, then the PC has to stay on for the gateway, if yes to the first and no to the second, or no to both, then you do not need to keep your PC on.
