Authentication wasn’t successful. Sign in to your Power BI account to view or edit Power BI tiles

I use CRM 2016 and have inserted Power BI tiles into a CRM dashboard and then shared the CRM dashboard with another CRM user.  I have also shared a Power BI dashboard with the same user.

  • The CRM user can see the shared Power BI dashboard - all is OK
  • When choosing the CRM dashboard however, gets the following message for each Power BI tile on the screen

"Authentication wasn’t successful. You need to sign in to your Power BI account to view or edit Power BI tiles."

Both the User & I are CRM admin users and have all of the perceived privaleges for this to work and have Power BI PRO licenses. Users are also logged into Power BI desktop & service.

Does anyone know why this would happen ?

Any help appreciated

@TimLoring

Please let the other user clear the cache in browser and try again to see if the tile can be displayed properly.

This issue should be related to Dynamics CRM portal. If it still persists, please post your question on Dynamics CRM forum.

Thanks for response.  I can confirm the issue was resolved by a different means in that I hadn't published to a Power BI app in PBI service and added the required users to the access permissions tab in the App configuration section.

Good Day to You,

I am encountering the issue of "Authentication wasn't successful."

I believe I have configured access to the published app correctly, but still getting this message even after clearing the cache.

Do you have any advice on how to proceed?

Thank you,

Will
