We have the Power BI service configured on msit.powerbi.com, and I am able to access it successfully. However, we need to display Application Insights data in Power BI reports using Managed Identities.
To do this, we need to make some changes in both the Admin and Tenant settings. Unfortunately, we do not see the option for Tenant settings in our current setup.
Could you kindly advise how we can resolve this and make the necessary changes?
Thankyou, @Deku, @arvindsingh802, for your response.
Hi @v-sunitkumar,
In my opinion, msit.powerbi.com refers to an internal Microsoft Power BI service environment utilised by Microsoft employees for testing, development, or internal purposes. It is not a publicly accessible Power BI service endpoint but rather an internal Microsoft tenant.
For external users or standard organisational setups, the appropriate Power BI service URL is https://app.powerbi.com for accessing the Power BI service.
Since you are using msit.powerbi.com, you are most likely working within a Microsoft-managed environment or a restricted internal testing instance, which may have unique policies or administrative controls that differ from standard Power BI tenants.
The key implications of this could include restricted administrative access, no direct tenant administration control, and limited workarounds. One possible solution is a temporary role assignment via Privileged Identity Management (PIM), if applicable in your environment, wherein an administrator may temporarily grant the Fabric Administrator role. Alternatively, you may contact your internal IT team or the Power BI support team managing msit.powerbi.com to request the necessary tenant setting modifications.

Hi, I have workspace Admin role. Yes
@v-sunitkumar - as suggested by @Deku , You need Fabric administrator role
You need to connect to your Tenant Admin to have it assigned to you or they can help enabling your required setting in admin portal
