Analyze in Excel - refresh issue, cannot connect to the underlying dataset!!!

Hi Guys/Girls

Hope some of can help solving this issue.

I've created a dataset and report in powerbi and then created an Analyze in excel report based on that dataset in PowerBi. Previously i haven't had issues with connection to the dataset and refreshing, but now every time i open the excel file i get these error messages:

1. error message:

MacJasem_0-1729759105544.png

2. error message:

MacJasem_1-1729759134617.png

This is eventhough my user account (O365 account) has admin rights and the same user has created the workspace, dataset and reports in powerbi. The dataset and report refreshes without any issues in PowerBI service.

Is there something i'm missing here?

The authentication error may be a red herring, try signing out of and into Power BI and Excel again to make sure, but I've seen this same error when the OLE DB libraries on were out of date after an Excel release.

If anything has been uypdated recently, you may need to download the newer versions of the libraries.

Hi @smokeyjoe03

Thanks for the input 👍i'll try to reinstall excell again and see if it solves the issue.

With regards to signing out of PowerBI and Excel, i've tried that and it didn't help.
