Adding Calculated Column in Shared Dataset

Hi,

I'm using a common dataset published in Power BI Service and want to create multiple reports based on it. So far I didn't find any way to add a calculated column or anything similar in my reports when these are based on shared dataset. Making changes in the dataset each time it's needed is unacceptable - while I'm the only one developing the reports this could be a case but since my colleagues are about to join me and work paralelly on multiple reports based on the same dataset is a serious problem.

Shortly: is there a way to add Calculated Column to dataset while developing dependent report? Is there any substitute?

hi  @Anonymous

You need to ask the own of the the dataset to add a column or measure in original dataset in power bi desktop.  you use a shared dataset to create a report, that means you are using a live connection, you could only create a report level measure.

Hi,

@Greg_Deckler@v-lili6-msft thank you for your answers this is clear to me now, it makes sense shared dataset forces use of live connection. Is there any workaround to that? Any possibility to create report level copy of the model and then add the calculated columns?

hi  @Anonymous

No workaround for now, you could only create a measure in your side, if you want to create a column in the dataset, you need to add it in original dataset,

If you are using Live connection then no. Live does not support composite model.
