My data is in kilowatts, but I would like to show that table in Megawatts. 1 kilowatt = .001 megawatt. How can I do this without creating a new data column, can I just do some sort of measure calculation? I am new to Power BI, if you could not tell.

You could create a new measure to do this. It would look roughly something like the following, but you'd have to put in the correct table and column names.
Megawatts = SUM( <your_table>[Kilowatts] ) * 0.001
