SSAS - Connection String using Alias server

Hello Community,

 

I have created an alias for a server on which I have installed PowerBI Report Server ans SQL Server Analysis Services.

The connection string is now like this :

 

Data Source=serverName  :  portNumber;Initial Catalog=xxxxxx_SSAS;Cube="xxxxxxxModel"

 

So, it should be now :

Data Source=aliasServer  :  portNumber;Initial Catalog=xxxxxx_SSAS;Cube="xxxxxxxModel"

 

However, I am getting error that it is not possible to connect to the server. Is it supported to connect to Analysis Services via alias server in PowerBI?

Hi @Arez2017,

 

Please check if you can connect to the SSAS in SSMS via alias server firstly.
