SQL Server required for ReportServer? - Case Oracle as data source

I have Oracle as data source for Power BI Report Server. Is it so that SQL Server also needs to be installed for ReportServer databases?

 

Could SQL Server and PowerBI OnPremise server installed to same on-premise VM? And then Oracle to another?

Yes, SQL Server is used to host the report server database.

 

Yes you can install PBIRS on your SQL Server VM. I dont know much about Oracle, but I dont see why you wouldnt be able to have a different VM with oracle on it and use that datasource on PBIRS. They all don't need to be on the same machine.
