SQL Server Licencing for Power BI Report Server

Hi,

We have Power BI Premium and are planning to deploy Power BI Report Server, which is free with the premium licence.

The SQL DB required for the report server is free according to the documentation is free as long as its solely used for the report server link(p30), it doesn't mention enterprise or standard. I've just come across  some documentation that suggests that you can't publish reports to the report server unless its the SQL Server Enterprise version link, just wanted advice on which version of SQL is should be using to enable user to publish PBIX reports without paying for additional licencing! thanks

Check your first link again. Report Server can run on any version. Does not require Enterprise. The SQL part is only used for meta data management.

@lbendlin  - thanks very much for clarifying, would Enterprise be free to use in this scenario as its just going to house meta data? (though we'll use standard, just for my own knowledge).

yes, as long as you are using it only for report server.
