Report Server data connection

Hi Team,

A few of question about Report Server.

1. WHY do we still need to have Pro license for us to be able to upload our PBIX files into Power BI Report Server?

2. WHEN connected to on-prem AS server via Power BI desktop, and upload the file to Report Server, do the connection get retain? 3. HOW does it work when uploading to different environment (i.e. UAT and PROD). Is it just simple as changing the Report Server url in Power BI desktop?

Cheers,
Gil

#1. in our company we have only 3 Pro licenses but all the developers are able to upload to PBIRS.

Hi @Anonymous ,

don't let Microsoft hear you say that ;).

As @Greg_Deckler  mentioned it its a rule that if you a developer and upload reports you need a Pro Licence even if nobody can control it.

Best,

Kathrin

For No. 2:

So I uploaded a pbix file to Report Server and it was successful. However if I try view ther report, this message pop up. I have to edit the data source manually.

I have to change the credentials manually to "Using the following credentials" instead.

Is there something that I need to setup so that when I upload the files, I don't need to manually changed the data sources?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @Anonymous ,

I think there is no option at the moment.
