Hi,
I have an issue with installing PowerBI so that it upgrades automatically on a server machine.
I am connecting from my laptop via Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) with stationary hi-spec PC, which has PowerBI Desktop installed on it. Unfortunately PowerBI does not upgrade automatically to the newest version. I have read that:
"To get the Power BI desktop to update automatically, you need to download the Microsoft Store version of Power BI Desktop , which is only available on Windows 10."
Unfortunately this PC is confirgured as Windows Server 2019, so I am not able to install this version via Microsoft Store:
As MS wrote: "The Microsoft Store and the Microsoft Store for Business are not supported on Windows Server 2019. All applications must be installed using PowerShell."
I am not familiar with PowerShell, but when I found some scripts there were based on .exe / .msi installation, which I assume would not solve the issue with automatic upgrade.
Could anyone please advise how to install PowerBI that upgrades automatically on PC configured as Windows Server 2019 ? 🙄
Hi @KatPL ,
As you said, you should have seen the official Microsoft documentation explaining this problem, and I can't give you any other workaround at this time.
