I have set up Power BI Report Server and have users that are already using it and publishing reports. I currently revisiting the roles and have a few questions after going through the predefined roles document:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/reporting-services/security/role-definitions-predefined-roles?v...
Report Builder Role: This role allows users to create and edit reports in Report Builder. This has a purpose in SSRS but as we are devloping reports in Power BI is this role of no use? Can it just be ignored?
Content Manager Role: allows a user to manage report server content but it contains all of the publisher permissions. So if a user has the "Content Manager" role can they also perform all the same tasks as users with the "Publisher" role in addition to its permissions to manage report server content?
My Reports Role: I went and checked "Enable My Reports for each user". When I am logged on the server with a system administrator account and looking at the Power BI Report Server home page I see that a new folder "Users Folders" was created. When I look at the same home page on my PC while logged on as myself I do not see any new folders that I can use as a personal workspace. I thought this would be created automatically. How do I set it up so all users get a personal workspace?
For the System Users system role. It says that this role includes tasks that allow users to view basic information about the report server. If users are just viewing reports, they do not need to be added to system roles?
I have created a folder for some Power BI developers. They will be creating and uploading reports. I have added them to the Browser, Content Manager, My Reports, and Publisher roles. To make things simpler would they just need to be added to the Publisher and My Reports roles?
