Power BI Desktop for Report Server Release schedule
- 9 years ago
Hi Vicky - the PowerBI Desktop for report server will release at the same time/in-sync with the server to maintain 100% compatibility between them. The PowerBI Report Server will officially release into production around 3 times per year and typically match the features/functionality of that month's release of PowerBI Desktop for Cloud. You can see a bit more on the support timelines page here: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/reportserver-support-timeline/. Also, stay tuned to the team's blog which shares new information about preview releases and feature updates at https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/sqlrsteamblog/

Hmm.. some good and some bad news. Was hoping we would have more frequent releases so only 3 times a year is bad news but good news is that you say the features should be in sync. I assume there are no firm dates yet on the next release but given it says 3 times I suppose some time in Oct'17.
