Power BI Datasets On-Premises

Hello,

we are using Power BI on-premises with the Power Report Server. There is no opportunity to use Power BI Service.

I would like to create Power BI Datasets and use them for several Power BI Reports and also for Paginated Reports.

Is this possible on-premises?

Yes and No

Directly in Power BI RS is not possible create standalone data set, which can be used in multiple pbi report.

But shared Power BI Dataset in cloud = SSAS Tabular model on-premises

If you are licencsing your PBI RS from MSSQL Server EE with SA, you can install SSAS Tabular instance on your on-prem, and there build and deploy tabular(PBI) models, which you can use from any count of Power BI reports (in Live Connected mode). And whats more, you also will get some enerprise features (better then premium), like unlimited model size (limited only by your physical RAM), or true incremental/partitioned processing, ...
