Hi
Anybody getting any issues with connecting to datasources on a schedule refresh ?
Getting the below error on a scheduled refresh however when I push a refresh manually it is refreshing fine , the same when I download the dataset and refresh in desktop.
Underlying error code: | -2147467259 |
Underlying error message: | The credentials provided for the MySql source are invalid |
DM_ErrorDetailNameCode_UnderlyingHResult: | -2147467259 |
Microsoft.Data.Mashup.CredentialError.DataSourceKind: | MySql |
Microsoft.Data.Mashup.CredentialError.Reason: | AccessUnauthorized |
Microsoft.Data.Mashup.MashupSecurityException.Reason: | AccessUnauthorized |
It can't be an issue with the credentials as it refreshes manually , is their something in the scheduled refresh which may be causing this ?
Hi @Arranafc19 ,
First, please try to update your gateway to the latest version: 3000.82.6.
If the latest one doesn't work, please check whether the following are possible causes:
1. What's the Authentication Method? Basic or Windows?
Based on other similar issues, it seems that even though it is used in Basic option in PBI Desktop, the format looks like a Windows user. Maybe Windows is the right option to use in PBI Desktop instead of Basic.
So, can you please try with Windows option in PBI Desktop and see if that works. If it works in PBI Desktop with Windows then use the Windows option in gateway to add the data source.
2. What's the Service account of Power BI Gateway?
Please try to change the gateway service account to a domain account instead of NT Service\PBIEgwService.
Best Regards,
Icey

You need to re-configure the credentials on the server when you setup a scheduled refresh. Power BI Desktop does not store the credentials in the pbix file they are actually encrypted and stored on your local machine. This is a security measure to prevent someone being able to get access to a data source by purely taking a copy of your pbix file.
So when you upload a pbix to your report server it has no stored credentials and when you configure the schedule for a refresh you also need to re-enter any credentials for your data sources.
Hi @d_gosbell
Thanks for this , where can I check these credentials ?
It seems to only be an issue on random schedule times , and when I refresh manually it works.
I checked the gateway connections and they are showing as succesful when running a test ?

If you are using a gateway that means you are publishing to the service, not to Power BI Report Server. I was answering based on how the on-prem Report Server works since that is what this forum is for. If you want assistance with the issues on the Power BI Service you should post your question in this forum
