Is it necessary to back up the report server databases when upgrading?

I am upgrading PBI Report Server to the newer version. Is it necessary to back up the report server databases or would it be fine if I upgrade without doing that? And how long would backing up the report server databases take?

    Anonymous - 99 times out of 100 you will probably be fine but do you really want to take the chance? Backup time will depend on how much data you have in it but I doubt it will take very long. It's always a smart idea to backup your system before you upgrade it. Or, if it's a VM, snapshot it.
