Excel Datasource stopping Scheduled Refresh

I have set up a scheduled refresh which was working , however once I added in an excel spreadsheet as a datasource , I am getting the below error 

"Your data source can't be refreshed because the credentials are invalid . Please update your credentials and try again"

here it prompts me to edit credentials but none will work. The excel spreadsheet is on a local folder and is marked as exclude from refresh on the dataset .

Anyone know what is causing this ?

Which path are you using?

You should be using network share "\\myshare\documents\" not local path "C:\User\Documents".
