Dynamic Formatting Issue: Reference Value Not Applying on Report Server

Hey everyone,

I'm running into an issue with a new KPI card in Power BI. I'm using dynamic formatting for both the Callout and Reference values, and on Power BI Desktop (January 2025 version for Report Server) everything looks correct. However, when I publish it to Report Server, the Callout value still shows the right format, but the Reference value ignoring the dynamic format.

Has anyone experienced this or found a solution? Any help is appreciated!

Hi,  @Jamme

You can try checking your Report Server version to confirm that your Report Server version is compatible with Power BI Desktop (for example, the January 2025 release needs to correspond to a server that supports that version). If the versions don't match, upgrade Report Server or roll back the Power BI Desktop version.
Prefer to format with field attributes and avoid relying on the FORMAT function: Use the formatting properties of the field (which is more stable) instead, and in the Power BI data model, locate the corresponding measure.
Or force a refresh of the server cache to clear the cache on the Report Server. Go to the Report Server Management Portal.
Navigate to Cache Refresh Schedules to create a new schedule to force a report cache to be refreshed. Revisit the report to check if the format is valid.
You can also check locale consistency to ensure that the locale of Report Server is consistent with Power BI Desktop, and check the system locale format on the server. In Power BI Desktop, adjust the match through the File > options > Locale.

Thanks for the reply and solution. I tried all the steps but it didn't work 😞 So rebuilt the whole report with just normal KPI cards instead of the new.
