Direct Query from SSAS cube Data Source on January-2020 Release of Report Server

Dear Team,

I'm using Direct Query from SSAS cube as data source into my RS Jan-2020 desktop and published into report server. I provided data source credentials under mange option in report server, Test connection is successfull. while accessing application below is the error facing. Request you to kindly help on this ASAP.

I used same data soucre with same credentials using Import Query, it works for as expected and able to schedule refreshes also. Only problem is by using Direct Query.

Version Using: Report Server - Jan 2020

Desktop - Microsoft Power BI Desktop (Optimized for Power BI Report Server - January 2020)

Thanks,

Bala

Hello @KBO ,

Thanks for support, I checked with Microsoft support team.

It's bug in Jan-2020 released version, for SAP BW and SAP HANA data source. They suggested work around in config files in report server and it's rectified now.

Thanks.

Hi @Anonymous ,

so let me recap your problem:

1) You use a SSAS (Cube) as Data Source (on premises I guess?)

2) You use a live connection to this Cube

3) You can't refresh or see anything in your report

Possible solutions:

Have you configured the SSAS? (https://subscription.packtpub.com/book/application_development/9781847197849/5/ch05lvl1sec06/configuring-sql-analysis-services-for-kerberos-authentication)

Hello Kathrin,

Thanks for below comments, I have checked on SSAS configuration part for Kerberos authentication connection string is already updated accordingly.

I can view reports by using Import Query, also i can schedule refreshes in report server without any errors.
But, if i use Direct Query we are facing issues as attached screenshot.
Please help with work around for this issue.

Thanks,

Hi @Anonymous ,

have you tried this:

-> go to "Data Sources" of the report after you published it to server. And then manually enter the username and password?

Best,

Kathrin

Hi @Anonymous ,

and the user you use is permitted to use the cube? You can successfully establish a connection but the user must be also allowed to use the data in the cube :).

Ahh...another point - the SQL Server is active (running)? I know stupid question but if the Server is inactive the report can't establish a connection and you can't see anything.

Best,

Kathrin
