I published a Power BI report to the latest Server release (Aug Preview)
The source of the report is a web page which accesses near real time information via API using an API key ...
The functionality to refresh this data from the report server is not available in the preview
Will it be possible to do this when the next GA release lands in Nov or Dec 2017 ?
And if not is this type of refresh on the roadmap for 2018
Thanks
B

Yes, support for scheduled refresh of data sources is expected in an upcoming release. It will support web sources that use keys, but not ones that require OAuth.
Has anyone gotten this working yet?
I've got the same issue, with the latest (as of last month, July) code which I downloaded from Microsoft's site and installed.
URL string doesn't have any authentication key info in it, no way to insert it, and it won't connect. Works fine in Power BI Desktop.

Hello @Jon-Heide , any updates on that ?
Still not possible to update a web API with Jan-2020 PBIRS 😞
I am trying to create a refresh schedule for a Web data source that uses an API key and it keeps refusing the connection.
Has this been enabled in the latest release (October 2017) and if so does anyone have an example of it working ?
Thanks
B
Apparently this would be possible in the latest version, but still didn't work for me... Maybe, you'll lucky and it does work for you 🙂
