Hello Power BI Report Server (on-premise) Users,
I wanted to know if there is a way to capture the web URL/address of Power BI Report Server in Power Query?
I have some reports that link to other reports.
I understand I can always use a parameter and assign the URL value to this paramter but then I have to update the value of the parameter when I promote this report from DEV > UAT > Production.
Another way is to read the value of the URL from three text files, each for each environment.
But, I am looking for a cleaner way of doing this.
Thanks and regards,
Jitendra Pandey
Anybody???
I did not ask how to travel faster than light 😄
No there is no easy way of doing this.
Basically Power Query only knows about data sources and data transformations. It does not know where it was launched from. Effectively it cannot tell if it was launched from Report Server, Analysis Services, Power BI Desktop or a DataFlow on powerbi.com.
Check out the April 2026 Power BI update to learn about new features.
