Authenticating the ODBC Hive source for scheduled refresh

Hello @,

I've successfully created an ODBC connection for Hive data and was able to load the table without any issues. However, upon uploading it to the report server and attempting to authenticate the ODBC source using basic, Windows, or anonymous methods, none of them seem to work. The test connection fails consistently.

"Couldn't connect

The report server couldn't connect to the data source using the information you entered. Make sure you've entered the connection string and any credentials correctly.

Hide error details

Log on failed. Ensure the user name and password are correct."

The same credentials work for the data source of Folder type.

After scheduling a refresh, I encountered the following error message:

SessionID: 68ef0a40-21ca-4c2f-b9ea-86e55ad7e9c9 [0] -1055784932: The credentials provided for the Odbc source are invalid. (Source at dsn=URSAMajorUAT.). The exception was raised by the IDbCommand interface.

Could you please advise on what steps should be taken in such a case? Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Please refresh the data in power bi dektop and re-publish. Work with basic credential.

Yes,but I need to create a scheduled refresh for these sources on the web to minimize the everyday work of refreshing on the desktop.

Hello @rekgoor ,

If you have use Power BI server then pass "dsn=dsn_name" and use basic authentication. If you are using power bi service then have to have install gateway and it should be up and running. then on data set set the gateway and schedule it.

If this helps then plase mark it as correct answer...

Thanks,

Use basic auth, and make sure you test it in the ODBC64 system dsn control panel on each of the gateway cluster members.

Basic authentication did not work. Although we have ODBC drivers for Hortonworks for Apache Hive created on the SQL instance, I'm using Cloudera for Hive, and I'm able to load sources into Power BI Desktop. However, I am unable to pass the test on data sources on Power BI Report Server web. Here, the Windows login and the Hive domain are definitely different.
