Architecture for Direct Query Cube with Composite Keys

Hello!

I am working on a migration project which has the following requirements:

- Will publish the reports in report server January 2019

- Datasource is an Oracle database

- Direct Query mode

- Most of the Keys are composite (2 colums concatenated)

- Cannot deploy anything in the source like views or keys

- Authoring environment: SSAS 2017

My main problem is that SSAS 2017 does not have active the COMBINEVALUES() function, which should optimize combined keys for direct query performance. https://www.sqlbi.com/articles/using-combinevalues-to-optimize-directquery-performance/

So how can I work around this problem?

If I use SSAS 2017 to devleop a cube and deploy it, I cannot use Combinevalues()

If I develop directly in Power BI Desktop Jan 2019 version, then I can use the Combinevalues() function. The thing is that I cannot save the model anywhere and then deliver it to the users.

So does anyone have an idea on how to develop models with combined keys in direct query and enable users to connect to this model and build PBI reports?
