Hi all,
We are trying to add an active directory group to have permissions to a Power BI Report Server but encountering an issue.
We've found that when an AD group contains an asterisk character the group cannot be added.
Ie. *PCL - HR Business Partnering and Employee Relations (Team) won't work because of the '*' character..
Any ideas to help with this?
I am not sure if you can have an AD group having "*" in it ... but if you have one, you can create another AD group and add this group in the new group with a proper naming convention to avoid this issue.

Hi Farhan,
Yes we have over 50 AD groups which currently have this character. Ideally we would not want to re-create these groups.
have you tried to add using "Domain\AD Group Name"

Hi FarhanAhmed,
Unfortunitely the same result:
The user or group name is not recognized.
Is this an email group or AD group?
Email groups can be created separately independent of AD group. And you cannot add an email group in PBIRS.

Its both an AD group and email distribution list
